I signed off of a video call last night and while my skype was still active…I got a request to connect from some stranger calling himself something like "Urgent you PC needs protection" or something like this..I cannot remember and I certainly did not honor his request and I also reported the whole incident to Skype abuse department.
I will post what I received from this person/entity last night and I ask someone out there to please advise me if following my instinct was correct…I am thinking there is a very very very slight chance that maybe the message was real..but I cannot imagine Microsoft contacting me using "Skype" hehe
The whole thing scared me enough that I began to be afraid for my less computer savvy friend overseas and I immediately ripped off an email to him that said.."If you get this message below that I have pasted here please do not respond to it nor add them to your contacts…I sent him this email because I would feel terrible/partly responsible if something happened to my friend on Skype or through Skype somehow because I am the one who encouraged my friend to download Skype and play with me on Skype because if was very fun to talk over 4000 miles away on a video call. My friend who is very nice I think humored me and downloaded SKype and learned to use it even with his limited computer skills..he is very nice guy because I think he did this only for me….I read somewhere that you can tell a true friend because they will ablidge your requests sometimes just because they see that you want to do it even if they do not..kind of like how FDR although afflicted with polio climbed a very tall tower just to humor his friend Churchill just because it was so important to his friend..it is a very touching story and if anyone has time I recommend you check into that..I think it happened at the first conference of the allied powers in Africa or Yalta or somewhere…Churchill wanted FDR to see the view from the top of this staircase/tower and FDR later said he went through all the struggle because his friend wanted him to do this so bad..it is very interesting and it kind of reminded me of my friend overseas sitting there struggling to learn about skype although he did not know how to turn on a computer six months ago..
Anyways…I got immediately scared for my friend and I fired off the email below to him…did I do the right thing or am I scaring my friend for nothing? I hope I did the right thing to warn him…that is most of my question here…but also I am wondering what the message from that entity could have been about if not a scam of some kind…and if it was a scam..what kind could it have been…Identity theft? Possible Identity theft is what I immemdiately suspected but I dont really know..I would appreciate you guy's opinion that know a lot about internet security and programming etc..
here is a paste of the email I sent to my friend and within that email you will also get the information on the message I got via skype;

A student here is wondering what kind of application software packages are used in the law, and the only thing I could think of was Microsoft Office. However, they need to list 5 packages!

Are there specialized suites built to suit lawyers? Thanks!

I need to do projects, but I cannot access the internet from the library, and my home computer does not have Microsoft word.

How would I go about cracking the schools password?

What is the link to download the software from the Microsoft website?

Because my computer hangs sometimes and because I always experience problems with Microsoft word, I need to download a software that saves for me in the background every word I type to avoid such unexpected troubles…Is there a free software that I can download online withut being rejected by my anti-virus and which doesn't cause any problems? Serious answers please as the issue is urgent! Thanks in advance!

IT WANTS TO UPDATE MY MAILBOX INFORMATION INCLUDING PASSWORD.DELETING ALL OLD E-MAIL ADDRESSES DURING OUR AUDIT.That is the second notice of while doing our AUDIT I have received in the last three months but that was for my extra set of personal plates. Oh well back to fraud e-mail issue (WARNING) RESPOND WITHIN SEVEN DAYS OR ALL YOUR ACCOUNTS AND INFORMATION COULD BE DELETED…FROM sbcglobal.net/admin. team.I have been dealing with these fools four years now…. my mailbox address has been run under certain pants and skirts for some time now. I would say attempts such as this to delete accounts that have been used through certain systems to provide for there habits of addiction so to speak.Seems that the tracking of original connections /records could catch these JERKS… The you have money in the U.K. was real special. I wondered where the equity in my home went.Two weeks ago I won a Laptop from Microsoft that was a scam too that is most likely the Laptop being used to run all the fraud addresses they want to delete using a product source like sbcglobal.net along with all others worldwide sites… just think each account can have more than one phone and each number can add a line FREE….feed the force give them DOGS their bone…Where do I send this fraud mail maybe they can get a seven day UNIT! price they can't refuse you think.

Every site I have found doesn't support Windows 7, only goes up to Vista. And the ones that do seem kinda scary for a download like it may have viruses or something. I know I can do searches online but I want to know your personal experiences so I know what is safe or not to download.
Yeah I tried those and one gave me a virus because they aren't all developed by Microsoft, just random people.

I tried going to microsoft and downloading, microsoft defender, but it wouldn't work. When I tried to click on it, after it was done downloading the "security tool warning" comes up. PLEASE, HELP ME. And don't give me links to scamming sights. ): Please, help me, I have no idea what to do. I can't use word, or anything! It even changed my background for some reason, to pink, which I don't mind, but it's also a bit strange. And it takes FOREVER to get into aim, and for everything to load. And I get like a hundred "security tool warnings" every ten minutes. Haha I Just got one. (: Well please try to help. And thanks. (:
*sites. sorry I wasn't paying attention. I'm so mad. (:

What computer software were computers using before Microsoft was invented? I googled it and couldn't find any info on it. Thanks and no jokes or dissing please.
