I'm basically new to this, but what are some tips on getting followers??? I've posted several messages, as well as clicked on five people to follow but still see no followers! I've also never received a reply since I've started this.

My parents can't seem to keep my secrets to themselves. Or else they ridicule me. When I try to ask my mom about something really personal or private, she tells twitter or facebook. She also has a blog. My parents are in an irish band, and my mom also has art presentations. A lot of times during these presentations she tells embarrasing, but very private stories about me that I do not want shared. Plus recently they seem to think its okay to point out something that is wrong with me. If I try to tell them about a certain health issue I'm having, or something that is bothering me, they will say "too much information" or laugh about it.

Sometimes, if I cry after a really bad day or something (mind you I don't cry much anymore) my mom will tell me to stop being over dramatic. It makes me feel like its wrong to cry.

Do you have any tips on how to deal with this? Talking to them doesn't work because they will tell someone. (Or usually large crowds of people). Plus they always get mad at me for talking to them about it.

Also they don't trust me. I haven't lied to them about something for a long time.

So any advice?

(Also I'm not allowed to date, even though I'm pretty mature)

Whenever I try to talk to an adult I trust about my problems, they get angry because they don't think the family problems should be shared. Yet they do it themselves…

I don't understand the @ feature on Twitter. I've tried to send people messages but i don't think that i'm doing it right cause i don't get any responses back. Here are my questions.

1) Does the other person have to be following you to get your updates or to post an update bout you?

2) Can you send direct messages to people who don't follow you?

3) How, exactly, do you compose an update to another person?

I am 24. I play guitars (advanced) and the piano. I am good at programming and puzzle solving. I am pretty much everything a perfect computer geek needs to be. I am planning to start off a company before which I will need to get a feel of how marketing works on the internet.
